The Sun Says

Respect them

HELP for Heroes has now raised a staggering £10million.

Every penny will go to the courageous men and women from the Armed Forces who need it.

Rarely has a campaign so powerfully touched the hearts of Sun readers.

They know their money will improve the lives of those severely hurt in action.

Men and women much braver than the rest of us who would die for our security.

It makes us proud to be associated with such a successful crusade.

But our work isn’t done — and the campaign will continue.

And while we’re at it, ministers should take note of Andy McNab’s bombshell survey.

The nation believes ex-servicemen and women are treated “disgracefully”.

They are thrown to the wolves when they step out of uniform.

Ministers must make sure the Forces are treated properly when they leave.

Like the heroes they are.

Strike farce

MEMO to menacing trade union leaders: You are the problem, not the solution.

Everyone in Britain is facing the credit crunch.

Shopping and fuel bills are going through the roof for all.

Many are finding they can’t make ends meet.

All of us would love inflation-busting pay rises.

Especially public sector workers.

But the nation can’t afford them.

The good times have come and gone.

Gordon Brown must not be held to ransom.

These are not the bad old 1970s when unions turned Britain — and Labour — into an economic laughing stock.

Union bosses gathered in Brighton this week should drop their strike threats.

Their members need practical help dealing with the economic crisis.

They don’t need a nation crippled by inflation, which will keep home loans sky-high.

And put at risk their members’ jobs.

Grit Britain

LEWIS Hamilton and Andy Murray showed true Brit grit yesterday.

Lewis battled for lap after lap to finish first in the Belgian Grand Prix — before stewards stripped him of the victory on a technicality.

He’s appealing and deserves to win.

No arguments about Andy’s US Open triumph over Rafael Nadal, but it was a titanic struggle.

They call it the bottle of Britain!
